Notes:
* - the models of other brands (Daihatsu, Subaru, Peugeot, Mazda, Chevrolet) sold under Toyota brand
- Although Daihatsu is a part of Toyota concern, this brand has its own school, its own lines of models, and its design solutions differ sufficiently from those of Toyota.
- After the acquisition Hino Motors in the 1960s, the creation of trucks and buses is performed under Hino brand. Low grade versions of Dyna/Toyoace still have some common parts with other Toyota cars, but the medium-tonnage versions can be considered as pure Hino.

- In this issue class designation adopted by the Commission of the European Union is used. According to it, the separation of the segments is conditional and can not be based on any one criterion (for example, the length of the car). Difference of weight and size parameters of adjacent families almost imperceptible, so the models belonging to a class determined by a whole set of qualities. The first - it's brand positioning and the continuity of generations, the second - the dimensions, weight, range of powertrains, trim grade.

- Each subsequent generation of almost any model until a certain time became a little more than the previous, expanding the scope of the class, and sometimes moving to the next. As a result, for example, Corolla '2002 was more spacious and ergonomically better than the Mark II '1988, despite the formal difference of two classes. However, in recent times in the domestic market downgrade examples occurred - so, Corolla 160 Axio, built on the B-class base was smaller then predecessor and lack of adequate engine. Similarly, Allion / Premio 260 - its size and the primitiveness of some constructive solutions conform to the C-class vehicles from European or Korean manufacturers. Therefore, from a certain moment some models are assigned to the above classes C+/D+ and positioned above models C/D-class of domestic market, more corresponding to European standards (example - Corolla 140 Axio / Fielder and Auris 150, Allion / Premio 240 and Avensis 250) . In addition, there was a closing of classes E/E+ - since the early-2000s, Crown and Mark are manufactured on a common platform, the difference is only the saloon size and a variety of options.
